Nice one! But this probably should be "Central-European light pollution map" since you're missing half of Norway-Finland-Sweden for a start, not to mention Turkey, Russia, Iceland and Greece - at least in the preview images

hi all.
Jake, In theory these countries are included in my cards
(North scandinavia).
but one of my data source does not allow me to go higher latitude : this is altimetry from SRTM shuttle mission
I have the choice : make them ( these place are very depopulated and always under the clouds;)) but with wrong result ( altimetry is one of many parameter that influences the propagation of light polution )
or not include and greatly accelerate my work ( swap of photoshop : 321 Go 0.o !!!! )
you can see my work and evolution here : this is in french but you can use google translating
Greece and russia : i havent find base data for theses contry (base data : Corine data land cover)
Turkey : only 2% of these contry is in europa, 98% of these great contry is in Asia Minor
Tony flander :i use Corinne data land cover and SRTM altimetry

Johndgaul : you are right. i'll will dit it. but my english is very bad a i must find a "victim" for this work

Absolutely excellent in every respect! Now I finally understand why my Southern sky is terrible from Hillbrae Avenue, Moss Bank, St.Helens, England, whereas my friend Jon H. with the 8" LX90 at Newton Road, Billinge, St.Helens, only about a mile or 2 away has a noticeably darker southern sky! Since Google Earth / Galleries / Nasa / Earth City Lights didn't show hardly any difference between us, but your "classic" map certainly does!
Thanks a lot, it is greatly appreciated , believe me.

FYI - I took all of the source lp maps from http://www.lightpollution.it/dmsp/ and made Google earth overlays of all of the maps. For most of the larger maps (like Asia), I broke the maps into multiple overlays so they will load faster in Google Earth.
Here is a link to my page with all of the Google Earth lp overlays I made:

The overlay labeled "Western Asia (Including Russia and Turkey)" contains the stuff in Eastern Europe.
Note: There is a bug in Google Earth 6.1x & 6.2x that may prevent these overlays (or any really large overlay graphics) from displaying properly (only half of the overlay is displayed). Google Earth 6.0x and previous versions work fine, and Google Earth 7x also works fine (they must have finally fixed it).
