I figured I would check this double called Castor out,since reading somewhere in CN about it......
What a pita 
I thought my new 10mm EP was messed up or scope went bad.....
fuzzy looking ellipse thing,put in my paradigm 8mm.
Same thing,but sorta steady seeing I could "barely" see 2 points of light.
Good gawd!!.....are they all this annoying?!? 
-of course I am using 5" ARES reflector 
still I saw it.....kinda

Check your collimation. In a 5" scope, you should get a clean split.
Castor is one of my FAVORITES. The pair looks like some faraway car driving at us with its highbeams on, because the two stars are white and have almost exactly the same brightness.

actually my 60x700 mm refractor and my 3'' F/9 reflector easy split Castor,providing great views.
I don't think the issue is with your eyepieces.
Wish you good luck at your next double star observation.

What focal length is your refractor? Maybe you need a barlow lens to give you a higher magnification to help you split it.
