I have owned both "go to" scopes and GEM style mounts, but have no experience using a typical old style Celestron C8 wedge type mount. The manual I found online is blurry and very unclear. Can someone get me started? I have not found anything online yet, and I am looking to possibly purchase one, yet I am unsure how to use it!  Thanks

This should give you an understanding of how a fork mounted SCT works. These Celestron manuals make it pretty clear:
Celestron Ultima Manual
Celestar 8 Manual
Once aligned, a fork mounted SCT is quite easy and intuitive to use.
The Ultima was available as an 8" as well as the 9.25 and 11" versions. It was Celestron's highest quality manual fork mount for their SCTs. A Beyers worm drive with PEC was provided with the Ultima. The Celestar 8 Deluxe also had a worm drive; the basic Celestar series used spur gears and had a lighter overall build.
