Solar flares and sunspots? new
      #5610316 - 01/07/13 02:19 PM

Hey all, whats a good site or resource in general that shows and lists current sunspot numbers, proms etc? Basically just want to be able to know what Im looking at while observing. Im still very new to solar observing and will take all the info I can get.

Thank you.

Try http://www.solarmonitor.org/index.php for info on active regions/#of sunspots/flares; nothing on proms here though-need to goto current observatory sites for that stuff.

Hi,

I am always checking the GONG networks to select active areas for making time lapse movies of solar activity

GONG movie sites

Oh awesome guys thanks so much. Had the LS80 on double stack for the 1st time today and although I think I need some practice with 4 different knobs everything looked great. Saw my 1st limb and the sunspots looked clear.
