3 hour rotation Jupiter, 010813, now reprocessed!
      #5612524 - 01/08/13 06:58 PM

Hi all,

Here is a quick and dirty processed sequence of 57
frames, where seeing from time to time was excellent.
All was captured while I was away, leaving things to
be done for Firecapture and Eqmod.
I'm quit astonished things work so great!
Ah, captured 010813 from 1857 to 2100 UT, 30fps at 4210mm
FL. with my 6" Mak.

Link to the animation

Edit: Now reprocessed and rescaled 125%, I hope the
brightness is ok now, also a more natural processing,
not soo hard on the wavelets

New processed animation

Hi Darryl,

Thanks and yes it is dark, I didn't pay attention at all
to the processing and mostly everything went standard.
I will make a smoother and brighter version some time
today I hope!

Some nice work there Mert. Some nice consistent seeing except for a couple of the frames. Nice job on the matching processing too.

Cheers

Thanks Tim,

I'm working on a better processed version but it
will take some time, right now I have to go to
music lessons ( guitar )
That also takes a lot of time

Mert, awesome animation! What program are you using to make it? I've been using the microsoft gif animator and it is not very user friendly, although free. Thanks for posting!

Regards,
Steve

Really nice animation. You have been kicking out some real quality images with your scope lately. I think the 6" challenge should basically be over right now

Hi Steve,

Thanks a lot, very kind of you!
The program I use for the animation is called
Photoscape which is free, great sw!!
The images are already processed and perfectly
aligned with AS!2 so nothing much more to it.

Comon zAm, I still remember your 6" images which
were rocking!!
I think the real challenge is making the most with
what you have.
I sure would like to have a bigger scope but I don't
have unlimited budget, so maybe in the future I'll
upgrade my camera for a ASI120MC like you have ordered.
For me it would be the perfect camera I think!

I need to get my 6" back out and do a few runs on Jupiter with the ASI120MC. I know that my old SPC900NC was a limiting factor on the quality of image that I could get, but I always wondered just what a better camera could do on the 6".

I probably could have gotten better images with my 6" but I never liked tiny images of Jupiter. At the focal length I was shooting at, it always put me at the limit of what the webcam could capture. If I lowered the f/l the images would have been better, but I am stupid in that way .

I think one of the reasons why we never see too many good pictures here on the forums with smaller scopes is that people with smaller scopes do not really have high end cameras. They (like me) would be imaging with webcams or NexImage camera. I cant even say that I have seen an IS camera used on small scopes here until you did.

Just had a thought writing this. Its gonna be clear here tonight but seeing is going to be iffy. I was just listening to the wind whipping it up outside and just thought that maybe the wind would be too much for the 8"....and get the 6" out to see what it does. Why not...if the seeing isn't going to be great, go out and experiment .

Hi Glenn,

Thanks yes Segovia is nice but for me at the moment I
have to do studies of Fernando Sor.
Other stuff I like to play is Bach and Villa Lobos but
for the moment practicing tecnics, after that some nice
partiture I hope.

Hi zAmbonii,

I hope you get a chance and grab some images, I hope
to see the results!!
When I started doing some imaging I had a webcam, the
cheapest I could find and the results were only soso.
However I continued, then the SPC900 was giving much
better results.
After that the DFK21 was bought and the results even better
but still soso.
Then tweaking everything and finally ..
Your 8" mages are incredible, make me jealous!

Thanks Darryl!

Right now bussy trying to bite the derotation in Winjupos.
I would like to try to derotate 3 png's and combine
them, however don't have much luck in doing so, yet!
