Is the RG 20mm Meade WA a collector item ? That is the question. If yes having the box may increase the value of both. An empty green box for the Nagler 11mm T1 was sold 50$ on Ebay !
Makes me feel glad my $190 11T1 came free with the box.....
It didn't come with a free box, I paid $140 for my 11T1 without the box.

I offered $50 for a Pentax Ortho box once (I'm missing one box for my set) and the other guy turned me down. I recently sold a full set of Meade RGs (Orthos and Wide Angles) with all boxes for $1700. I doubt I would have made that much had they lacked the boxes. Clearly there is market value for out of production eyepiece boxes.

Jim

Vintage clouds are extremely rare and hard to find. You're lucky indeed if you ever find one NIB or NOS. I once saw a box of vintage clouds sell for over $1000 on EBay! (Buyer was from a drought stricken region in Southern California.) You really have to be careful with vintage clouds though, you just never know where they come from. They could be left over from a tornado or hurricane or something.

Now that my 34mm ES 68 is just about to be delivered, I thought that the vintage clouds would re-appear tonight, but it isn't so! I will get to use my new 34mm ES with the vintage clouds elsewhere !!!!
Since I just turned 50, I consider myself vintage as well now.

The vintage clouds could be an issue. i was planning on buying some off ebay some time ago to go with a vintage Zeiss Telementor then I noticed the seller was from Chernobyl so I dropped out.
You have to watch yourself on ebay. You think your getting a bargain but sellers arent always honest about stuff like clouds.

And I heard somewhere (on this forum perhaps?) that WWII-era vintage clouds may be radioactive. I wouldn't want to touch that!

Well whats in one of my eyepiece boxes is a car, the other one I rented out to some students. You see they are Explore Scientific boxes and ES thoughfully provide you with somewhere to live with each of their eyepieces

I'd say it's worth at least $9.00, but the box market is hot so it might hit $9.25.
It's at $12.05… scorching' hot!
