Whats the difference on AT6RC f/9 to f/5.7? new
      #5609830 - 01/07/13 09:46 AM Attachment (76 downloads)

Well, to answer this I shot a 1 single 600secs in Ha Atik 314L+ each setup and overlaped in Registar you judge
BTW I used a Meade FR/FF 0.63x . haven't measure my back focus, but theres no ext ring,a FW and ~10mm spacer is on place. Measurement will be later.

Looks like the FF/FR worked out pretty well. I can't make out any distortions. Did you apply any flats to these images? I guess with the decent image circle size and small sensor it may not be visually apparent if there was vignetting with the FR.

no calibration just a single shot. no cropping, as you can see no vignetting

Hi Jose:

Is this the Meade 0.63x SCT type focal reducer? If so, what adapters did you need? Can you describe your set of adapters, spacers and focal reducers starting from the back of the scope?

Also, as orlyandico mentions, the size of the sensor makes a big difference in how well this works. What is the physical size of the 314 sensor?

Thanks!
-Dan

I tried with a dslr about less than a year and no vignetting was note it. That was on the dslr forum I post the owl nebula using same setup. I didn't determined the f ratio by that time, now I use pinpoint in maxim.

I used to use a televue trf-2008 0.8x reducer flattener with my dslr and at6rc. there was definitely vignetting but it was correctable with flats.

I believe the trf has corrected curvature for refractors but the meade fr/ff are made for curvatures of sct's and rc's.

here are some comments about the reducer http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/202595-REG/Meade_07545_f_6_3_Focal_Redu...

There has been posts on another forum about mixing flattener types with some surprising results.

the native focal lenght is 1368mm at f/9, with the meade 6.3 fr/ff the focal lenght goes to 942.4mm, that's a 425.6mm reduction.
