M77 and NGC 1055 are an interesting pairing of two galaxies in the constellation of Cetus.

M77 is a face-on barred spiral type II Seyfert galaxy with an Active Galactic Nucleus (AGN) believed to be powered by a massive black hole. It is fairly bright at a visual magnitude of 8.9, with an apparent size of about 6 x 7 arcminutes. NGC 1055 is an edge-on spiral with a prominent dust lane.
This image was made with a 130mm refractor at f/8 at about 1,000mm of focal length. It is a stack of 12 x 600 seconds (2 hours total exposure) at ISO 800, unfiltered with a Canon 550Da.

I have fond memories of observing M77 with my trusty 6" homemade Newt in high school. It was one of those high surface brightness objects that showed up well through my murky Michigan skies.
Thanks, Jerry.

Fantastic image, Jerry. You picked up the faint halos extremely well and your colors are (as always) beautiful.
