Sword of Orion
      #5613243 - 01/09/13 08:03 AM Attachment (158 downloads)

The Orion Nebula is always a spectacular sight and obviously in my 18" Dob it makes you glued to the eyepiece for an hour. This particular drawing was made without the use of any nebular filter because I wanted to show the "natural" shades of the nebula. I even perceived a slight hint of orangy-red at the nebula's brightest borders! Of course, this to the detriment of the background nebulosity which wasn't as obvious as with the use of a filter. Nevertheless also NGC1980 was clearly visible in the upper-left corner. I hope you like it!

Cheers,

Peter

Peter,

Stunning capture of the Orion Nebula.
Very intimidating target, especial if you include color.

Frank

I totally agree! Perfect color rendition, including the pinkish edges, exactly as it appeared through my 18" two nights ago. SUPERB!!!!

Peter... simply outstanding. You are very talented! The more I look at the sketch the more detail I see. Really, really great. I look forward to seeing many more of your fine sketches.

Well, that's the whole idea. Just like when you're at the eyepiece and the more you look the more detail comes forward. Therefore your compliment means a lot to me because apparently I've reached my goal. Thanks! :-)

Peter

Peter,

Wonderful sketch! Love the wide field and the overall capture. Nicely, no, most excellent. My son will be spending the next several years in Italy. Just curious where Carù is located?
