Here is the latest from Florida. It has been unusually cloudy this "winter" but I was able to squeak this one in. I've been sitting on the Ha data for a couple of weeks and finally got the RGB in on the last 2 clear nights with poor transparency. So I bring to you all... IC 405 the Flaming Star nebula Ocala, FL Constellation: Auriga 1,500 light years distant Imaged December 19, 2012, January 9 and January 10, 2013. RGB data: 6 minute exposure (each channel) stacked in DSS for a total of 3 hours Ha data: 15minute exposure stacked in DSS for a total of 4 hours. PS CS5 Orion 80mm EON Orion 50mm guide scope with SSAG QSI 683ws Losmandy G-11 with Gemini II Comments and suggestions are always welcome. For a higher resolution image please visit my web page.

Beautiful image Steve. The Eon gives a nice FOV for this.

Nice job Steve. You've managed to capture a lot of the wispy HA data on the outskirt of the nebula.

How do you combine Ha & RGB; is it another combine after combining each group separately? Thx

Nice work Steve! Good details showing with the Ha data. Weather hasn't been very good this winter here in NC, either.

Thanks George, Sal, Jeff, Warren, Mark, PatHolland, mmalik, Mike and Jimmy! How do you combine Ha & RGB; is it another combine after combining each group separately? Thx I go about this by Starizona method. I am really dorking out on this now and I made a tutorial. The beginning of the tutorial explains how I use RegiStar and the middle to end is how I combine Ha and RGB. It is the first video linked here.
