What would be the quality of the new Celestron 15x70 Cavalry binoculars? I see they are not used available, but they seem like a significant improvement over the 15x70 SkyMaster.

Well, they are waterproof/fogproof/N2 purged say the specs. The Cavalry have a slightly wider FOV spec and different close focus than the Skymasters as well; maybe a difference in optical components between the two? Perhaps we'll hear more about them in the near future.
There's no track record so you won't know if they have a better chance of being collimated than the Skymasters or not. Are they still actually 63mm effective aperture like the Skymasters and similar "15x70s" sold by other vendors? I'd like to know that as well.

It seems to have taken quite a while for this Cavalry to have finally arrived under this brand. Given the specs. compared with the Skymaster,it's understandable that dealers would be charging quite a lot more for the Cavalry.

That happens a lot in optics. Still worse is that people sometimes flock to a name, when whose who WORK for that name did nothing more the re-direct the boxes from Asia.

Searching the web, it doesn't seem like anyone is selling them yet. They seem to be aimed at the law enforcement and military market, hopefully they are solid binoculars. The 10x50's $100...

I have not seen other 15x70 binoculars that are waterproof/fogproof/nitrogen purged and so lightweight (only 1381 g). This alone makes them interesting to try.

If you check the specs of premium 15x70 binoculars, all are waterproof/fog proof/nitrogen purged, etc, all have BAK4 prisms, fully multi coated optics.... Why are then the huge price differences? You really think than a Celestron 15x70 will perform equally than a Fujinon? or a Zeiss? There are a lot more things to consider. Search in the best of threads an article from EDZ: "if they look the same what could be different?", just to get started in the idea....

FWIW, my best "sales man" (when I was selling some BA8 binoculars, just for the fun of it...) was a Celestron 15x70 a friend left me here. Explaining all the stuff that makes a good or premium optic different from a cheap one is not easy for me, at least not in few words or minutes, so the best test was to simply make them observe trough the Celestron's, then trough the BA8's, and finally to some of my premium quality binoculars. So, as always, if you can test some vs others you can make a better judgment.... It was a pity when the Celestron's left... sales dropped too... Now I know there is another good use for them apart from paper weighting

Personally I like to hand hold binoculars, so premium heavy binoculars are not for me. I have been looking for 15x70 binoculars with these features (waterproof/fog proof/nitrogen purged), so if the price is fair I would give these a try when they become available.

That link redirects me to the Sports and Outdors section, I don't see the Cavalry listed anywhere.

Don't know what to say; the link works fine for me. It takes me directly to the Cavalry 15x70.
Try this: under "Binoculars" in "Sports and Outdoors", go to page 3. It's right there...

The plot thickens!
The Cavalry has indeed suddenly completely disappeared, presumably over the horizon !
It was right there about 2 hours ago.
