Don't laugh! This is my first attempt with a Meade DSI III Pro and my LX90. It is not on a wedge so i limited exposure time in Envisage to around 21 seconds. I used Drizzle not sure if it needed it or not. Not even sure if it works without a guide scope lol! I adjusted the levels in Envisage and cropped to post but no other post processing as i don't know how yet.
So it was 12 shots all together on a half decent night for where I live. I didn't even attempt RGB just L. I am sooooo hooked!!! Makes you feel like your 10 years old again!

Very nice image ... well focused and sharp, round stars. I brought it into Photoshop CS5 and did a stretch using curves, increased the contrast, slight sharpening and smoothed the background. You can even see the 17.4 magnitude galaxy, IC 4278 to the left of m51 and under the triangle of stars at the top. Not bad for a 12x21second exposure. The Meade DSI III Pro is anice, sensitive camera. It's too bad Meade stopped its production.

Wow! I am so impressed with all you guys did with my first DSO! A BIG to everyone in this great forum! I would not have been able to come all this way without you guys. What the heck did we do before the internet?!
I wonder if i got a wedge how much better shots I could get? That is the one bad thing is that the spending never stops! Thank god my wife supports me in my hobby and actually helps me! She is the one who helps me get focused inside the house on the phone while i turn the focus knob

Excellent 1st image and in 4m exp - now you're on the slippery slope and maybe joining the long-haul gang that say "just a little more data" and soon it will be 4hrs but think of all the objects you could have recorded in 4hrs - I'm all for keeping it short and sweet as you've begun. Check out my DSO snaps via link below
