Image Intensifier Noise

I'd be very interested in seeing how much noise is in an intensifier tube image , what factors influence the limiting magnitude that can be seen thru it , what is the signal to noise and resolution in real life, what is the noise distribution in the time domain and also distribution over the intensifier tube area.
I'm working on a project that requires some fast frame imaging with reasonable signal to noise and an intensifier followed by a fast frame rate camera is an option.
The question is whether a fast frame rate camera would capture too much noise and if the intensifier image needs to be integrated over a relatively slower frame rate in order to have a decent signal to noise.

The first best thing to do for noise reduction is to obtain an image having high surface brightness via a fast f/ratio.

Unfortunately the image scale is a fixed requirement and can't be changed.
