Here's my new hardwood ply base for my Lightbridge which I just finished building. I used 3M spray adhesive to glue the setting circle to the ground board, then topcoated with spray clearcoat.
The pointer is mounted at the center bolt with a huge range of adjustability.
The adjustable leveling feet make leveling the base a snap instead of getting down on your hands and knees with shims.

I've read a lot of this thread and others concerning DSC's and The Halo, and the SkEye program. I do have a few questions though.
when you use alt/Az setting circles and the number are generated by a program (ie: stellarium) I know that one of the numbers keep changing. How does the numbers help if you set the readout on the side of the scope?? is North always designated 0? on the Halo 90 is at north and 0 is at west. So I am confused at that.
Also with the virtual SkEye DSC does the base need to be level? it seems if that is all you need.. then the upcoming leveling legs and the SkEye program is all any Dob owner needs. I used RA and DEC on my Astroscan when I made a pipe equatorial and using charts let me find various items. someone said that good charts also help with Alt/Az settings.. I've not figured out how since all charts I know are in ra/dec. So alt/az settings require some computer/smartphone of some form to work (is that so??)
hopefully i didnt stir the pot too much

It's done that way because most times the focuser is on the left side and so is the pointer. This way, you just need to look straight down rather then around from the EP view to see the setting.
Relative to the OTA and the observer, the pointer is always at the same place, it's the numbers that change as the rocker box rotates.

Just popping in to say thanks to Carol and everyone else for all this great info! I put a temporary az circle on the base of a Skyquest my young son has on loan from the astronomy club to try it out, using an analog inclinometer I already had for alt. He's pretty good at star hopping on his smaller scope but was having trouble steering this larger one. We tried out the circles with SkyEye on my phone and it worked great, he could steer much easier concentrating on the circles and gauge as opposed to the red dot finder!
Since this isn't our scope, I went cheap and printed a circle on six sheets of paper, then did the old poor man's packing tape lamination. Attached it to the top board with a few adhesive velcro pads so we could rotate it to the pointer, which is a brass paper brad taped to the side. Final cost, zero dollars since we had everything lying around. This way we can also remove it all before we return the scope to the club in a month or two. I may add a more permanent version to his Starblast now that I've seen the system in action, though!

Anyone have a pattern for a 25" degree circle or will Staples re-size it for me? I'm not too computer savvy and with not being able to actually see what I have when finished I'm not sure what I do would be right.

Wish I had that Staples store where I live. $45 was the quote. Used the UPS store for $40. These things seem to be much cheaper in U.S.A. than in Canada.

Anyone able to use these UN-LAMINATED ? Staples here says that the 25" diameter that I need is too big to laminate. Also, The quote they originally gave me (with lamination before they decided it was too big) was $22.00).

I would not recommend using the degree circles unlaminated. Dew, etc., would take a toll on them. You might consider having Staples cut the 25" circle in half, and laminate both sides. You can easily match the sides up, when installing them on the baseboard.

I don't see why it wouldn't. When applying to the base, simply tape the two pieces together on the backside.
