Today the sun is more active. The big sunspot AR1654 is growing. I can see it with no use of refractor, just naked eye, with black special sunglasses (Eclipse Shades). I am not very constant about the technique and colour I use for the final sun mask (like the much more regular André’s work), sorry for that. For this sketch I made 2 layers, the first one with black pencil I draw the prop and spots, and then I add the second layer with a red pencil, just for the bright area. With Paint.net I compile the two layers with the colours I like today…

Superb drawing, Michel! The way you make these sunbursts come alive is truly stunning, just like with André'd work. Excellent job!

Lucky you to be able to see the sun especially with a such activity. Nice different presentation, but to be honest with you, your last yellow disk was pleasing me much than this one. I like the white activity aroud the largest spot. Nice details.

Hi Michel,
Very nice H-alpha work--this AR 1654 is one to watch if you have an Ha scope--it is liable to do a lot of flaring.
I too could see the big AR 1654 today with the unaided eye through my WL filter.

Thanks for this comment André, I agree with you, my pink background was probably better. That was only an artistic parenthesis… Here after some details, I'm quite sure that this prop was alive for approximately 48 hours. André, you did (of course) a better sketch of the same region, much more detailed Jan. 10th 19:25 UT. Michel
