Just purchased this second 4" Unitron focuser and Brandon 4" lens as a project/backup for my 155. Is this focuser from a 4" Unitron that was made as a guidescope for an even bigger Unitron? Should receive by the end of next week ...

Looks like a regular 4" focuser. What diameter is the OTA. If it is the same diameter as the Unitron 4" OTA I have the back that will aloow you to screw the focuser into without needing those screws to hold it in.

I am not getting the OTA, but actually have a spare "naked" Unitron 4" OTA with dew shield. I'll send you a PM Johann when I get it and let you know, thanks!

Arrived today, a deluxe focuser for a 3" Unitron with (what appears to be Unitron) step-ups for a 4" Unitron OTA. This focuser is much smaller than the one on my 155, and a little bigger (and much better) than the one on my 140. Oh, and the Brandon lens looks great!

Those 75mm deluxe focusers only came on the 145C. I think they also could be ordered as an option. Nice catch.

Those are sweet and hard to find. Sort of like a mini 4" focuser.

They were the early version of what we now call no mar focusers with the clamping ring.

I've always wondered if this deluxe focuser was an option on my 3" from about 1960. It has no engraving with dia and focal length like Steves.

Nice - I think they left off the mm and focal length so they could interchange these on a variety of scope packages.

You're right. On my website you find photos of my 75mm altaz with a super focuser with no size indication. I don't know if the focuser was added after the purchase of was original.
The Super focuser is longer than the "normal" focuser. You can only use the scope with the Super Unihex. Can't reach focus with other combinations. Not really a problem ;-)
I think there aren't two identical Unitron/Polarex telescopes.

This has a very interesting adapter/holder to fit the lens on the Unitron 4" OTA. The lens/cell assembly screws in to the OTA coupling.

Thanks Brian. I ended up with three 4" lenses w/cells - two Unitrons and 1 Brandon. One of the Unitrons is due to arrive Monday after being sent to D&G Optical for cleaning and new spacers (was missing 2). I also have an "extra" Unitron 4" OTA, so with this focuser package and lens will be able to set that up.
I really like this deluxe 3" focuser compared to my standard one on my 140. I already swapped it out, as my 140 is my current grab-n-go scope and gets the most use.
