I bought a 12" Meade RCX 400 at an auction a few years ago. Was supposed to work but didn't. I called the auction company and they said they would only refund my money, not fix it. Since I got it for 2200 bucks I decided to gamble. After replacing the on/off switch, hand controller and coin cell, I still had "level north" problems. I traced this to the horrible ribbon cable patent in the dec drive. I made a new one just like the old one. 3 years on, that one failed also. A friend said he once saw a post where someone was selling a mylar ribbon cable to solve this problem. Anyone have any ideas who that might be? Also, are there any software updates out there? The Meade web site doesn't seem helpful and there are bugs that seem like they should be addressed.
