Hello.
I would like to ask how would a 25mm Sterling plossl perform in a f/5.9 dob.I am thinking in buying one of those so i can finally replace my Sirius plossl,and get perhaps a better image sharpness/contrast.I am interested in knowing how good the constrast is since i mostly do DSO observing,so i was planning to use it as finder eyepiece.
If you were to choose between this and an ES 68* 24mm(thinking about canceling my order if i get the sterling) what would you choose (is there any thread that compares those too by the way?)

I have used my 25mm Sterling in my friends 12 inch Orion Dob and it worked well.
I have compared 16mm ES 68 degree and 17mm and 20mm Sterlings and I prefer the Sterlings.
This is my opinion...

Recently, the Sterling Plossl 25.1 gave me the best view of the Horsehead Nebula with an OIII filter and 10" f/4.8 Dob. I compared it with a Brandon 24, UO Ortho 25, XW 20 and BGO 18. The Sterling Plossl showed more contrast between the Horsehead and bright nebula IC 434. Now and then, I could catch a fairly clear outline of the Horsehead and even a glimpse of the snout!

If you order the ES68* 24mm now, you'll get it in time before you wear out the Sterling......

... or if you wear out the Sterling before you receive the ES68* 24, just order another Sterling... they're good and che... inexpensive!

@Csr but i have already ordered it since August!I am certain that by the time i cancel my order,they will start shipping the eyepiece
@Mike How does the 25mm behave as a DSO finder?I mostly do galaxy observing but if i can spot out some emmision nebula,then why not?I see you got from 12.5 up to 25mm.Can you give me some feedback on the shorter fl?

The Sterling 25 was the best in show for detecting and seeing structure on the Horsehead (B33). For me, at my yellow zone site, dark nebulae are perhaps the most difficult objects to see in the telescope. This eyepiece has a bright image, good perceived contrast, great light transmission. So it should perform well in finding emission nebulae. It did give me a good view of IC 434, which is the nebula behind B33.
Personally, though, I don't use any eyepiece as a DSO finder. My 15x70 optical finder gets me to the location of a DSO. I align this finder very closely to the main scope. Most of the time, when the DSO location is in the finder's crosshairs, it will be in the field of a middle to relatively high power eyepiece in the main scope's focuser.

I have the 25mm Sterling, which works well in my 12" f/5 dob. I also have a 24mm ES 82, which I prefer due to the extra FOV, but I've never really compared the 2 side-by-side for performance. I will say the Sterling is a very comfortable eyepiece to use, with ample eye relief and a nice image.
