Still keeping an eye open for a GOTO alt/az mounting the would support my 6" Mak/Newt weighing 18.3 pounds plus eyepiece support rings, etc. So probably closer to about 24 pounds.
Certainly not interested in any meade products (reliability). Have asked about the Kyson mounts here before but seems no one had ever purchased or seen one.
My expectations are long term reliablity (Does Honda make mounts?) with ease of use and set up.
Price is subjective, you get what you pay for but also not interested in over a $2,000 mounting.
I choose alt/az, for visual use and the simple fact that the eyepiece location is consistant. If I was using a refractor OTA, this might not be such a restriction.
Thank you for your first-hand experience and advice.

not many heavy duty Alt Azi mounts out there, especially tracking types. You may also want to consider the iOptron Minitower Pro as well.

The AZ-EQ6 I think is a brilliant option. Reliable stepper motors, encoders for manual slewing without losing alignment, dual purpose alt/azm for visual and dual scope capability or eq for guided or unguided ap, pec training, auto guide port, two dual sized saddles, polar scope. What's not to like? If I already did not have an EQ6 I'd certainly be interested.
