I'm thinking about hanging something to block some stray lights. The blue tarp available at big box stores come to mind but I thought I'd ask the collective wisdom for ideas before I do that. I'd like to block about 22' x 6' (maybe 3') . It needs to be easy up/down. The lighter and cheaper the better. I only need it while the leaves are off.

I use a towel over my head sometimes. It seems to help. Good links Carol I will do some reading.

I think you'll be able to find some useful information in the links, as to what others used for material.

This works well for me since I only need to block light from one main direction. The closer the shield to the scope the larger the blockage area. Also, it folds up nicely for storage or transport. May not meet your needs but an idea.

Good info comeing in. I didn't know about the Duvetyne cloth and I'd never have thought of the foam boards. I'm mostly interested in the materials you used but the methods used to hang them are great too. Please keep the ideas flowing.

I bought an old 8mm movie projector screen from a flea market and painted it Ultra-Flat Black, total cost was $12.00, it folds up into it's tube like a window shade and fits nicely in the car, snad bags hold it down!

No.....seriously, I have a question.
How do you stop them from blowing over? I thought about doing this but it gets so windy here. The towel over the head thing bugs me too because I need to remain alert to the skunks that pass thru the area at night.

Some have used milk jugs filled with sand or water & put them on the bottom pipe of the frame, to hold the screens.
