wow 12" scope balanced on the HEQ5 !! Looks like it really is quite a lightweight structure you've built there Sam. Given the conditions I think your pics are to be commended.

Still a good image Sam - especially in that soupy sky there..!

How much does that mirror weigh in the total of 12Kgms - and is your truss design/frame rigid enough to hold accurate collimation....?

If it does provide a rigid frame I believe your 12" on an HRQ5 is a real bonus.....12Kgms is easy-peasy on those little mounts - and the wind would blow right through it without any real "sail" effect..!!!

I've been meaning to email you for quite some time to ask you about considering a special custom job for me and my 16" F4 mirror - I'm unhappy with the solid aluminium OTA and have considered what alternatives there might be.....I allways want more aperture for my planetary imaging - send me an email with your thoughts please!!!

thanks Karlo
I think this is the limit of HEQ5.

thanks darryl.
the mirror weight 5.5kg.
the truss I think is solid for plantery imaging.but still under more test.
I will add black shield when Imaging. So wind is a big problem actually
16" is out of my ability I think but I still will email you
