I finally had a (nice) view on the zone after the GRS. It was a spectacular one: whole the SEB was split in a northern and southern component. Never saw something like that. This time the southern polar region looked darker than the southern. Last month it was the opposite.

Beautiful and very realistic sketch, Jef! You have a good eye for detail, like e.g. the fuzziness of the planetary surface near the edge. My sincere compliments!

Jef,
Oh yes, very nice sketch. Finally you got a clear night. How about that Jupiter, really putting on a fine show.

Jef, glad you got to observe the amazing things Jupiter is showing. I too got a view of the enormous wake following the GRS the other night - spectacular just doesn't seem to describe it well enough. I also noticed that night that the South Polar Region was as dark or darker than the northern one. Nice sketch depicting the beautiful views.

Hi Jeff,
Excellent work. The disturbed NEB is well shown here. Those darker areas on the southern edge of the NEB are festoon bases no? Nice clean presentation. The STB trailing off is nicely done too.
It's been a wild season.

Jef,
Nice work on this Jupiter sketch. The SEB is truly a sight and as Pete mentioned, you captured the very prominent South Temperate Belt (STB) nicely. That is quite a bay in the southern edge of the NEB, too.

Jef, what a dang fine sketch! I was also impressed with how much separation and variation has been occurring in the SEB lately. Beautifully rendered.

I am glad you posted that sketch. I saw the same detail and began to doubt my senses...never seen anything like it before.
Thanks for saving my sanity lol

Thanks all for the nice words. But when I see some of your sketches there still must be some more detail to catch with my 30 cm...

That's right. They look really blue/grey to me. Maybe I sketched them a little to dark.

Well, Belgium isn't really renowned for its excellent seeing so in order to get more detail you'd have to be lucky. I didn't see much more with my 18" when I made my Jupiter drawing, but then again that was on a night with bad seeing as well.
Cheers,
Peter

Great observation and drawing Jeff. I am seeing the split in the SEB too, plus lots of interesting barges....
