I love my NJP but I've experienced two pier collisions due to meridian flip failure using automated imaging software. I am developing a device for turning the mount off should the meridian flip fail.
Here's a video of my progress thus far: DIY Arduino-based tracking protection for telescope mount

Cool setup, I love to see Aurduinos showing up in more and more astronomy projects. Currently I am working on a dew heater control. You might want to post up your code to share with everyone so they see how simple these things are to code.

I had the same thing happen on the EM400 such a great mount but not great for automation in an observatory that is a very simple solution thanks for sharing

nice idea. is there any way for you to force a meridian flip and continue imaging if the sensor detects the automated meridian flip has failed?
