Hello all
I am new here and finally had an opportunity to practice shooting the sun today . I have not been at this long so any suggestions or criticism is welcome . This is a single frame shot with a Canon Rebel XS mounted to a Solarmax II 60 DS . Settings were ISO 1600 and 1/8 sec

Excellent shot MG877! You've extracted a lot of infomation with the processing.
DSLR imaging is a challenge - you might want to eventually move on to one of the industrial cameras from Point Grey, Imaging Source, Basler, etc. See:

Thank you for the comment and suggestion Bob , I will be in the market for a better camera soon but have to do more research first . I will look into the Point Grey and thanks again for the informative article .
