Hi Steve,
Maybe you have an old version of AS?? You might as well pass the avi through vdub and see if that helps? I just tried the same avi and for me it seems to work ok. On my laptop if I play the avi, it looks like an undebayered bw avi. On the image you posted, did you cut the avi just in 3? Was this the first, second or third part? Did you do drizzle? since the image is soo big??

Mert, I totally forgot about the ringing artifacts that the IS camera had (knew there was another reason why I kinda avoided them
I really would like to have seen what you could have come up with that night of imaging with maybe a little larger image scale. The .avis that you posted actually looked pretty good processed with a 1.5x drizzle. You may have been able to capture a little more detail than the drizzle at a larger capture size.
I processed the second .avi and below is a comparison between the 1.5x drizzle and not resized.
BTW: I did try a couple of nights ago to use my ASI120MC on Jupiter with my 6" but failed horribly. My mirror needed cleaning and I did that, put things together and collimated. But noticed something really wrong with a star image. I never really checked my secondary alignment through the focuser and it was really out of whack. I'm going to try and get that straightened out this afternoon. May have a chance to image tonight even though seeing is not supposed to be good.

Steve, you might try the latest beta version of AS!2 to see if that fixes your problem. http://www.astrokraai.nl/software/latest.html
Remember this is beta software, not a final release. If you find problem with it, please do let me know.

Emil, thanks for the link. The program got stuck at the final step and never finished. I'll try again tonight, since there may be too many programs running on my computer now
Mert, As a rule, I always run a 1.5x drizzle when stacking in AS2, however, for your data, there are a lot of vertical/horizontal lines, so I restacked, no drizzle. Without color its hard to see much difference. If I can get the color working, I'll repost.
Regards, Steve

Let me know if it gets stuck again and please send me a screenshot as well, it would be nice if I can replicate the problem so I can fix it!

Off topic, I think, but I've yet to stack using any drizzle and get any kind of usable image.

Anxious to see what you come up with Steve.
I am still busy to try to see any difference between
the image done with AS!2 and Registax, or the video
cut in 3 and passed through AS!2 then WinJupos to
derotate.
I don't seem to get any better result eventhough there is
quit a lot of rotation within the same 3 minute lenght
avi, as you can see in the animated gif at pg. 1 of
this thread!
It looks like AS!2 does a terrific job and takes in account
for rotation??
Hope Emil chimes in on this!
On the bandings, these videos were captured in SER
format without any debayering, then fed through PIPP to
convert to avi, the debayering takes place in AS!2.
When fed directly into AS!2 the outcoming results seems
to be in parts or with bands ( like a distorted view )

Mert, AS!2 tracks features, and thus it should be able to compensate for small changes caused by the rotation of a planet. But near the edges it is going to have a problem (because where the edges remain perfectly steady, the features on Jupiter will move). But 2 maybe 3 minutes likely won't give you any problems.

Took the same data of Mert's and was able to get a nice stack (50%) with 1.5x drizzle...
Paul - in really good seeing (which I get annually and Mert seems to have experienced here), a 1.5x drizzle works for me.

Nice processing Grant, did you derotate the image/s in Winjupos or straight through AS!2 and Registax, or something more??

Hi Steve,
I did a drizzle of 1.5x and lateron rescaled to 75%
of the size.
Maybe a bit hard processed but I'm quit happy with
it.
If I try to derotate with Winjupos, wether I cut in 2,
3 or more parts, I can't get better results then just
with AS!2 straight away, great software ( thanks Emil!! )
Oh by the way, this image is from the second avi!

No derotation, Mert. Just a stack in AS!2, a small stretch and sharpening in R6 and some minor deconvolution, noise reduction and sharpening in GiMP.
