Filters for binocs? new
      #5626212 - 01/16/13 01:35 PM

Supplement to my post re my first purchase of decent binocs. I noticed that Orion sells solar filters for the objectives...not cheap. Does anyone sell or is there even a way to adapt filters for binoculars? It would be cool to have say an OIII filter on one side/eyepiece and be able to view wide angle objects like the Veil Nebula.

You can use a step down ring..

(For a binocular like the Canon 15x50 IS, you can get a cheap adapter that screws into the objective end and takes a 2" filter. Not sure about your model. George)

I had enough Baader solar film leftover from making a filter for my scope that I made a pair of solar filters for my binoculars and I find myself studying the sun with them more than with the scope.
