The weather cleared up in my area and as I was planning my observing session I noticed (on the website Heavens-Above) that the asteroid/minor planet (9) Metis was rather bright. After looking at the finder chart, and another chart (on the website The Digital Astrolabe), I decided to hunt for it even though it was just past its opposition. I had great success last night and tonight, even with the moon out, and the crude sketch I made (using low power/~55x) is attached, and tonight I also got a chance to view the Trapezium in Orion and a transit (shadow/dark dot) of Jupiter's moon Ganymede.
(9) Metis is in the constellation Aur (on the Gem side) and will be bright for a few more weeks, so if the weather cooperates give it a try using your Questar and post your results/tips for others.
