I had been looking for a 70-80mm short tube refractor to mount on a big truss scope as a ground based finder.
Instead, I got extremely lucky and found a very beautiful TeleVue Oracle 3. It might have been a penny or two more than what I was planning, but wow is it pretty!

There have been several write-ups on these.
This one appears to be perfect and came with the original diagonal and soft case.
As an added bonus it came with the original focuser and a Feather Touch TVRF Micro focuser.
Serial number 1536

Looks nice on a Unitron 114 mount!
The scope is very solid for a 76mm scope. I like the length at F7.4.
I can't wait to try it out with Jupiter high in the heavens.
Of course, since I got the scope - 6 days of rain in a row with snow now in the forecast.
Maybe it will clear up this weekend.

One of my favorite TeleVue scopes, very little CA, nice and portable. Nice find!

We finally had a clear still night last night.
Everything was tack sharp. No CA and very nice wide field views. The only limitation to magnification I could see was the Alt-AZ mount I have it on now. Stars were just pinpoint with a 27mm Panoptic or with a 4.8mm Nagler.
The gentleman I bought it from actually used to work at Company Seven - we had a very nice conversation.
It has been a while since I had a scope that was so nice and portable. All and all - a very nice evening for observing...
