Will I get any benefit with the 5000 series eyepieces? Thank you. I might consider a 32mm Plossl. Otherwise you are set. Mine is 12mm flavor. Most of my other eyepieces are plossls, including the ubiquitous Meade 4000 26mm plossl. I consider my X-Cel to be "better" than the plossls, but not by a lot. The extra FOV is noticeable (60 vs 50-55) but not a huge difference. I will add, while I consider it only a bit better then the plossls, I almost always grab it instead of my No-Name 12mm plossl. Also, my Meade 4000 26mm is almost never used - I will instead grab my 25mm No-Name Chinese plossl, or my 28mm RKE, or my 32mm GSO plossl. The 4000 has the smallest FOV of my plossls (only the RKE is smaller), the eye relief is not great (deep set eye lens) and it seems to be the least sharp lens I have in that power range... Compared to most of my plossl's, the X-cel is a small step better, compared to my 4000, it is a bigger step better. Post Extras:       Jaimo! If you mean the Ultrawides, you dang sure will. 82 degree field, which will not only yield a wider true field, but is much more comfortable to use. A good compromise and what I use in my ETX 125? Orion's inexpensive Expanse eyepieces. Nice 66 degree AFOV, good edge peformance in these slow scopes, and will not break the bank. Much nicer than cotton-picking Plossls. The 24mm ES or Panoptic would im my opinion be a better fit, although I cringe to disagree with one of my heroes, Uncle Rod. Seriously, I use a 12mm 82 in the scope all the time and it is hardly too much magnification. Neither is a 16mm. On the other hand, the wider field eyepieces are more appealing in monoview than narrower AFOV eyepieces. Going from the Meade 4000 Series to the Meade 5000 HD-60 was a HUGE leap in quality and image (Santa got me the HD-60 set with carrying case - nice dude). Am I an eyepiece expert? Nope, BUT the improved view was obvious. I have the UWA 5000 eyepieces, but not the 1.25" variety. If experience is a guide the leap to these eyepieces will be even more profound. As far as bino-views, I can speak to that. I am in the squint one eye club.
