Hey everyone, I have just gotten a new book called astronomical sketching and will go for my second sketching of a lunar crater with its advice. What crater is more of an easier crater to sketch? I have already done the Pythagoras crater. What should my second crater to sketch be?

I recommend to start with a smaller crater which is less complex.

I just finished a good sketch of the archimes crater. It was quite an easy crater to sketch and turned out great with charcoal.

Hi Grengen
I agrre with Uwe. Just a suggestion, try to sketch the straight wall zone, to improve the contrast, the Moon age must be around 10 days. Have fun !

That is a fine looking charcoal sketch of crater Archimedes.

Thanks for all the feedback! This is a starting piece to a life time of astrosketching. Tonight I will go out and sketch the moon yet again.

Grant, that is indeed a fine sketch. It's much better than my first attempts at lunar sketching and you're off to a great start. Really looking forward to seeing more!

Grant, that's a fine sketch of Archimedes. I struggle immensely with lunar sketching. The degree of available detail is intimidating. Keep it up!
