Kudos to lunt with great customer service.long story short I ordered a lunt ed80 after viewing thru it I noticed that stars brighter than fourth or fifth magnatuide was spiking and flaring like crazy, called lunt, told them the problem, they told me to send it to them ,they would either fix it or replace the lens well they told me that the lens had a issue so they would send me a new scope, it arrived today.I made a quick star test and this scope is performing a lot better stars come to complete points brighter ones just have tiny crosses in focus ,it also has better color correction .Thank you,Lunt you saved the day.

Tiny crosses in focus is a sign of an astigmatic lens, which is NOT good.

Clayton:
Are you seeing the crosses at low magnifications or at high magnifications. If you see them at low magnifications, it is probably your eyes, if you see them at at high magnifications, it is probably the optics.

Low power ,drats.
If you see crosses in the center of the field at low powers, it suggests you have some astigmatism at large exit pupils when you are using your entire eye lens. At higher magnifications the exit pupil is smaller and you are the central portion of the eye's lens and the astigmatism is reduced and then disappears.
I have recently begun to notice those tiny crosses at the largest exit pupils, I am 64...
