I have a perfectly fuctional LX200 classic platform that I'd like to put to the task. I'm afraid though that with the unramped start/stop, the slowest slew speed will still be too much for the mass of that scope. I'm considering manual pots for each motor, but that's risky and tedious. Any thoughts? Improving the pointing is relatively easy, driving is another matter. Especially if there's been some discusion of, or someone has done this. The GPS versions of the Meade LX200 platform has ramped start/stop GoTo, and that would likly work so perhaps someone has done that, but unfortunately I don't have that version setting unused and collecting dust like my classic rendition is. John, I want to be able to slew (GoTo) to varous targets. The Azimuth drive may be able to handle the bulk (and that's a big maybe...), and I have stronger doubts about the Alt. Once on target, tracking I'm confident it can handle.
