Magnacraft 12x60 new

Can anyone tell me anything about the Magnacraft Binoculars? Especially the 12x60. I'm looking into buying an inexpensive set of binos for when traveling. Are they worth buying or are they pretty much junk.

I've never heard of them before your mention. But from what I've just seen on the Net, if you fill them with sand, they would make good paperweights--all under $50!!!

Of course, my words are usually followed by someone who will say, "A cheap binocular is better than NO binocular." That IS so . . . usually, if a half dozen criteria are met.

If you have $500, two empty suitcases and a ticket to China, you could own a new "TAG1260" bino in two weeks!

They are sold here in New Zealand. Many have the inferior ruby colored lens. They are entry level junk binoculars. Avoid or proceed with great caution.

You can always close one eye and collimation problems immediately disappear.

I'd never heard of Magnacraft binoculars before,but even if I had,there is something about the choice of brand name that would instinctively have conjured up images in my mind of a less than premium quality product.

I've no idea why.

Thanks guys. The main reason I asked is that they have an Oberwerks part number, if you read the listings, and THEY have a fairly decent reputation.
