Looking at Jupiter in broad daylight just under the Moon! Pretty cool and can see some of the belts. Don't think they will be close enough to get both in an EP later?

Sure, you should be able to see both in the same FOV if your scope has wide field capabilities.
I took this pic about 6:50 PM local time. Too cold and windy to use the telescope. Nikon Coolpix 5000--quarter second exposure.

I just caught a naked eye glimpse out my living room window (too cold and breezy for me to set a scope out right now, although I did do some lunar viewing before sunset). What a beautiful sight!

1/21/2013 8:30-10PM Obsering from home in below freezing weather. Sky partly cloudy
I noticed Jupiter very close to the moon so I observed with binos (would have also observed with my 1.5" dob but my wife had the bottom 3rd of that scope in her SUV).
25x100 3.5deg TFOV Appogee binos on camera tripod:
*Moon & Jupiter/moons in same FOV near zenith - required me sitting on my butt on snow/cement and my neck at it's limit very uncomfortable. Able to see both in same FOV but hard to merge object eyes with eyes not exactly being able to look straight through eyepieces due to near zenith angle. Hence not the vest view I've seen though these binos.
*M42 and sword stars - binos frozen and not able to get IPD correct so seeing slight double image. Not the best I've seen in these binos. After observing I brought the binos inside and was able to change IPD when not so cold.
*Did not look at M45 since also near zenith
15x63 3.7 deg TFOV Orion Mini-Giants on Garret Monopod w/ Zhumel adapter:
*Moon/Jupiter/3moons(one on one side, and two on the other) - Tied best view of evening! Looked Great lots of detail on moon. Jupiter as orb.
*M45 - looks great. 1st to find w/o looking.
*C41 Hyades - had to pan to see it all
*Col70 Orions belt & S
*M42 & Orions Sword - tied best view of evening. looked great.
9x63 3.7 deg TFOV Orion Mini-Giants on Garret Monopod w/ Garrett adapter:
*Moon/Jupiter/3moons(one on one side, and two on the other)/Part of C41 - 2nd best view of evening! Looked Great. Jupiter as orb.
*M45 - looks great.
*C41 Hyades - looked great.
*Col70 Orions belt & S
*M42 & Orions Sword - looked great.
10x50SW 8.5 deg TFOV Vixen handheld (since garret adapter came undone at base of Garret Monopod, but did not drop because holding strap in expectation of this from past):
*Moon/Jupiter/3moons(one on one side, and two on the other)/All of C41 Hyades in same view - Tied best view of evening! Great wide view. Jupiter as orb.
*M45/Jupiter/Moon all in same view - looks great.
*Col70 Orions belt & S
*M42 & Orions Sword - looked great.
7x32UW 14.0 deg TFOV Orion handheld:
*Moon/Jupiter/2+moons(one on one side, and one-two on the other)/All of C41 Hyades in same view but dim against the bright moon glow - Nice wide view. Jupiter as orb?
*M45/Jupiter/Moon all in same view - looked good but M45 not so bright with moon glow background.
*Col70 Orions belt & S/M42 & Orions Sword - Nice wide view looked good.
2.3x40 28.0 deg TFOV Blue Planet Optics Operaglasses Unfiltered handheld:
*Moon/Jupiter/moons/M45/C41 Hyades all in same view (but C41 not noticeable against the bright moon glow). Nice wide view. Puts everything in perspective like star charts.
*Col70 Orions belt & S/M42 & Orions Sword/Bottom Half of Orion Hourglass - Nice wide view looked good - looked like skycharts. M42 small at 2.3x.

11pm EST in Toronto: Jupiter is directly in line with the moon's terminator and about 1 moon diameter above. Very cool!! +3F cool!!
I just checked on Sky Safari Pro. Folks south of about 5degrees north will be getting an occultation! And it will be warmer than 3F!!!!!

Both crisp and in my 31mm nag/10in f4.5 dob. Great seeing, temps in the low 70s, fantastic! Living in L.A. definitely doesn't suck.

Yes, I used my 25mm to get the moon and Jupiter and Jupiter's moons - very cool! The moon itself, in combination with the neighbor's porch lights, washed out the rest of the sky. But Moon/Jupiter was very cool!
Earlier in the day I showed my kids Jupiter in the daytime sky using binoculars. They thought that was pretty neat! Later on, right before bedtime, they saw Jupiter getting closer to the moon. I told them that it wouldn't look like that again for 13 years - longer than either had been alive, so an entire lifetime for them!

After writing my observations from part I, it was perfectly clear, and my Dob
was finally home (in the SUV), so I went outside to see if I could get my 25x100
IPD correct, and see if Jupiter and moon would be in same FOV of my wide TFOV
eyepieces and it was!
40mm 70 AFOV University Optics Koening (46x, 1.53deg TFOV, 9.7mm exit pupil) in
17.5" f4.1 Discovery Dobsonian w/o Paracorr II:
1st quarter/gibbous Moon with Jupiter (2-4 bands) and 3 moons (2 close together
on one side, and one on the other) all in the same field of view with 2-4%
margin. DEFINITELY BEST VIEW OF PART i & ii OBSERVING TONIGHT!!!!! lOTS OF
DETAIL ON MOON AND jUPITER.
30mm 82 AFOV mEADE 5000 uwa (61x, 1.35deg TFOV, 7.3mm exit pupil) in 17.5" f4.1
Discovery Dobsonian w/o Paracorr II:
1st quarter/gibbous Moon with Jupiter (2-4 bands) and 3 moons (2 close together
on one side, and one on the other) ALMOST all in the same field OF VIEW. tO GET
jUPITER AND MOON IN, REQUIRED GETTING ONLY 2/3 OF THE MOON. TIED FOR 2ND BEST
VIEW OF PART i & ii OBSERVING TONIGHT. EVEN MORE DETAIL ON MOON AND JUPITER,
BUT COULDN'T GET EVERYTHING IN SAME fov.

The wind chill was about -15F here but it was nice and clear. I could just fit the moon and Jupiter in my 30mm eyepiece and the view was amazing. This picture doesn't do the view justice but it was the best I could do with the equipment I have.

Wow, that's a fantastic photo!
The highlight for me was the wall of Sinus Iridum projecting far beyond the terminator. I had anticipated just about every other aspect of this event, but forgot that the Moon is always showing something new and special.

Set up the scopes to see it and also catch the transit later. Wind really picked up and got cold fast, but was able to see both of them in the same eyepiece with my 80mm at low power.....very cool to see!

Oh yes, The moon has a handle on it. That was to cool for school. Is that the Montes Jura range that looked like a great arching bridge?
The conjunction was spectacular in my ED80 with a Pan 27mm. 3 of Jupiters moons were visable (Europa was hiding) along with the N & S bands. Add in the handle on the moon and talk about getting your monies worth in one eyepiece view.
We are suffering an inversion here in the PNW, lots of high pressure and the skies look promising late in the afternoon, but then the darn fog rolls back in. I could see the moon & Jupiter at 22X, Not bad detail of Jupiter at 55X, and some fun moon cruising at about 90X. Looks like the rain (for which we are famous for here in the PNW) is going to roll in and camp for a while. At least I got my "Fix" last night.

I observed the moon and Jupiter at around 11PM from Lexington, KY with a 90mm F5.6 achromat. Both were visible in the same field of view of a 24mm 68degree hyperion.
This view gave me an excellent sense of scale; the scale of the solar system. There was Jupiter, about equal in size to the crater Plato, maybe a little smaller. Knowing as we now do the placement of these objects in the solar system, with that knowledge backing up one's observations, the view gave a three dimensional view of the scale of the solar system.
