Not as much fun as the Flea3, but I wanted to try my Canon 60Da in the FSQ-106 the other night for the first time and happened upon a close Jupiter 'occutation' of the Moon. First link is a single 1/400s exposure at ISO 100. Below that is a manual stack (couldn't get Registax to work on jpeg's) of 3 frames each at 3 different exposures - total 10 frames combined in Photoshop using layers. One exposure setting for the moon, one for Jupiter and one for Jupiter's moons (4 are visible if you zoom). Think you mean occultation. It was a cool enough view for me to drag the equipment out - so it must have been great in that Newt. Now all I have to do is understand why Registax wouldn't take a handful of jpegs to stack so that the next time two celestial objects do that 'conjunction/occutation/being-really-close' thing, I don't have to stack manually. Regarding my describing it as a transit: Tonk: I have always, personally, wanted the Earth to be a moon of Jupiter as the thought of getting a good tan without having to sit on the beach with the wife making believe I'm reading rather than checking out the talent is appealing to me. So it was wishful thinking. Pete: Why would one assume that if humans went from whatever it is we are doing with our lives as supraterraneans to doing it as subterraneans we would suddenly be qualified as civilized? It was your use of the word "close" that drew onto what it nearly was as to what you actually saw. So yes you are right - for you it was an Appulse Another edit?
