It has been a couple of years since I shot the Horse Head and I really wanted to see how the SXV-H9 would fair on the 125SD.
This is just under 5 hours of Ha taken over 2 nights from my backyard in North Jersey, just 20 miles outside NYC! Last night my focuser's temp probe read 9.1 degrees when I tore down. That is insane!!!

I'd say it fairs quite well. Great detail on the larger version. 9 degrees? Brrrrrrrrr. So the focus boss has temp compensation? Gotta get me one of those, especially when imaging through the SCT. Derek

Thanks Derek! Yes it does have Temperature Compensation and it works real well, in both directions. This one is a joint venture between FeatherTouch and Optec. It uses FeatherTouch's standard focuser and MicroTouch stepper with Opetc's control box and software. I picked ip up at NEAF last year. I think I purchased the second one made. It really is a slick system. It links into MaximDL, through ASCOM, so I can use filter offsets to tweak focus when I switch R, G and B filters. Combine that with the temperature compensation and it is worry free.

Hi David,
Nice to see that the horsehead looks the same from NJ as from here (Israel)... Glad to see that the cold didn't change him...
Great work - cold well spent!
Cheers,
Kfir
