Had a few straight nights of very clear skies (clouds and rain rolled in yesterday). I did some messing around getting used to ccd/NB/multi night shooting. I'm starting to get things setup, camera hooked up and working, getting focused, and getting exposures going in a reasonable amount of time now. I spent one night (with a new scope) just getting the Horsehead in Ha. I'm pretty happy with the results, all things considered. The below image was shot from my back yard in Los Angeles (as white zone as you can get), with a half moon in the sky. I will say though that I benefit from being only 3 miles from the ocean.
I'm having trouble getting much data from the OIII and SII filters though. I need to work on that. Plenty of Ha out there though...

Well done, I image from LP skies too. You can get a lot done with narrowband filters.

DOH! Thanks. For whatever reason my software of choice flips Fits files. I'll fix that

that fits thing really messes me up, especially when imaging a target that i've never done before!
that is a very nice Ha image. i think there's really not very much SII or OIII in the horsehead. you'll need a ton of integration time to get anything.

That came out GREAT. I image form under skies that are as bad as yours and It is real tough. Narrowband filters is what keeps me coming back for more!!!! I image from just 20 miles outside New York City in a on the edge of a White Zone, but inside a Red zone.
You captured some great detail and processed it well. Nicely done!

That is a great Horse!!!
You can image the O3 ans S2 in 2x2 and even 3x3 binning - that way your data will be boosted. The datails will come from the Ha channel setting it as LUM.
All the best,
Kfir
