My wife did something she never does, she set aside $600 from our tax returns for me to "play with your telescope". I have a 8SE with a WO 1.25" diagonal, telrad, wing thing, dew control system (arduino powered), car battery power pack. For eyepieces: a Meade 4000 32mm, ES 82* 14 and 8.8mm and the stock plossl with a Celestron Omni 2x barlow. OIII, UHC, variable polarizer, and basic planetary color filters.
I am trying to decide what and am going nuts trying to make up my mind. I need help.
Here's my list of ideas:
WO 2" diagonal upgrade (would sell 1.25" for additional funds)
ES 82* 24mm
ES 100* 20mm
Panoptic 24 or 27
JMI motofocuser
Focal Reducer
R/c Battery pack (For cord wrap and grab-n-go, 5Ah)
Sky Quality Meter (narrow handheld or Ethernet)
Obviously I can't do all this, but these are on my list of things I am considering. What is the best choice in your opinion, what am I missing that I should be after?

I suggest a focal reducer and maybe a motor focuser. More 1.25" EPs.
The FR gives you the additional field and you can continue to use 1.25" EPs. A 2" diagonal will also do this but you also have to get 2" EPs.

I'd sell the barlow and the WO 1.25 inch diagonal and get a 2 inch Denkmeier S1 P/S diagonal...
These diagonals also have a built in 2x barlow as well as a Focal reducer built in..so it is actually 3 individual items in one package.. push a lever or button and you are using the barlow push the other button or lever and you are using the focal reducer...no need to touch the eyepiece itself...
I'd also seriously consider the Motofocus...
The last thing I would buy is a sky meter...only because I really do not want to know just how bad my sky really really is.. what I do not know for a fact allows me to fudge my guess to match my mood..

Whatever you get, I'd take a little of that money and buy the wife some roses. She's a keeper!

Get a celestron hd tripod..it makes a ton of difference in stability. Along with that I'd get a god observing chair

How about a camera for some short expsoure imaging? Check out the AP imaging thread here to see what is possible with even 15s stacked exposures.
Best,
George

I have the same camera setup that you have, the T3i. I plan down the road to get an equatorial mount. The Cgem, the CG-5 is a bit underpowered for the scope for AP.

Hi Jim,
Where have I been lately? Celestron has discontinued the CG-5?? What are they replacing it with?

From your list, I would recommend you go for the Motofocuser.
Off list, the Roses as Dan suggested.

Snagged the Meade diagonal and 24mm deal then got a killer deal on a Stellarvue 60mm raci with the 2" focuser.

That is very thoughtful of your wife. Why don't you get something which both of you can enjoy, like a viewing chair for eg., Either way, fun to drool over such decisions.
