In regards to mini dvr and wireless video you posted in the other thread- Remotoe Control Airplane forums have a ton of threads regarding both of these types of devices- that is one place to look around.
My personal experience: I use a jxd991 and a Cowon A3 for small portable with screen dvr. The jxd is under $100, very light weight and has a slightly smaller screen- hold 8gb on board. The picture quality is not great but not total garbage- works great as a finder at the scope.
The Cowon a3 is heavier, has the nicest picture quality of any small screen device I have seen and holds 80gb of data. The Cowon is not made anymore and is hard to find and usually over $200.
There is an older Archos model that is supposed to be good too w500 I think is the model- but don't have personal experience with that one.

Interesting device using Zoran ZR36494 compression engine/SoC. The menu page shows 800x600/640x480 (more appropriate)/320x240 and 10/20/30 FPS.
I would say if it is doing MPEG2, 640x480 at 30 FPS, then it's a winner.
Matt, can you use "Format Factory" or "Media File Info" to know the detailed recorded video file info (e.g., MPEG1 or 2, which profile, data rate, etc.)?
P.S. this toy is using a Zoran which is a good indication .
Also, many inexpensive fleabay units are using MPEG4 (MP4).
Clear Skies!

Yes, I am curious about the performance too. As I posted in another thread in post #5644030 : The KS-650M unit uses " a Zoran chipset , Samsung Flash memory, Hynix RAM, Texas Instruments video front end and LED backlit TFT LCD , all first class components ." I will run some tests at the available resolutions and frame rate combinations and post the results (next week I have some time for this) .

I have the Cowon A3 and it easily beat the image of any Speco on the field. It plugs directly into the camera without needing a dock like the Archos.

Is the connector that looks like a mini-usb , labeled composite/s-video output only , or is it also an s-video recording input ? I saw it comes with an s-video cable but couldn't find a clear reference to whether it allows s-video recording .

yes- it does record s-video
That should mean better quality video recording than any of the other devices which only use composite video .Thanks
