After my first sketches at the Sun, and having the scope already out from this morning, here is my first attempt at Jupiter. Seeing initially good then average. I suspect it would have became very good this evening but humidity totally blew me away. After only an hour of observing time all the equipment was dripping wet so I had no other choice but putting the end word to the game.

Well... If that's your first attempt and the conditions were as horrible as you suggest, I can only bow humbly and say that you're a star!!!

Conditions were not as horrible Peter, infact I wrote seeing III/IV but I've made a mistake...it was II/III Sure now it's better again, it's not so unfrequent here, but humidity is too much this evening.

I can understand. I suppose you live somewhere near (or even in) the city? Because there the humidity can really stick for some time, can't it? Have you already considered taking your gear up the mountains?
Cheers,
Peter

I go up the mountains whenever I can I live just out of the city near the sea. It was a paradise here 11 years ago. It has not been ruined for the time that has passed, it has been ruined in just a week after I came living here...one morning I've found that the road in front of my house was become 10meters larger than before and they were building a new supermarket 500meters away

OMG... That's really bad luck. Well, hopefully you don't have to drive that far then?

Sincerly my friend, this Jupiter's sketch is in my top three favorite of all sketches I have seen before. Man you have a very nice talent. Beautiful rendition and details.

Andrea, very nice. You captured that "tortured" look of the NEB very well. Well done.
I have been on another project, but still peek at Jupiter form time to time.

I would like to add that the subtle shading of the limbs adds a very nice touch, as does the fading of detail near the limb. Well done.

First attempt at Jupiter? Are you kidding me? This an awesome and very realistic sketch. I know that template, by the way... eh eh. In case you did some color and intensity estimates as well, I think Gianluigi Adamoli will be happy to get a copy of your report.
Clear skies,

Really Ivano, I'm not so bad with drawing in general but I think it's too early for colors yet. Anyway I'm very sensitive to low contrast details but am also completely blind to colors in low light conditions. I will give Jupiter another try this evening, as I've seen the GRS is approaching. I'll try to make some intensity estimates too, as I feel that all this is making me a better observer but do not expect too much precision on this side at this moment.
Clear skies to you all.

You may need a bigger telescope then
Seriously, the one you have must be very good. Clear skies,
Ivano

Lovely sketch Andrea - a great example of what can be achieved with a modest aperture and patient work. Fantastic! Ho apprezzato il vostro lavoro un sacco!
