Is the CG-5GT steady enough to handle a C11 for visual observations?

Hi Magnus,
There are many posts and discussions on this topic here on CN. Generally I think the opinion is that it is possible, especially if you use the vibration suppression pads. I have used my CG5-AGST with about 28 pounds of stuff and it handled it ok, i was even able to take 20-30 second exposures without much star bloat. When using an auto guider i was able to go 1-2 minutes. So I think it will work for you.

Thanks very much, Al for your feedback! I have read a lot`bout this topic, CG-5/C11 for visual here on CN. Some say NO some say YEAS (with reservations)so I am a bit confused.
I have an old -73 orange C8 on my CG-5 and it is just so perfect. A C11 would be my "dreamscope" but I don`t want to upgrade my CG-5 (which I am so happy with) to a larger, heavier, like an EQ6 or similar.

My buddy Tom (CNer Americal) runs his C11 on a CG5-GT. It works just fine for visual. I can't recall if Tom runs VSPs or not, but he probably does.

Thanks Jim for info; I do really wish the combo CG-5GT/C11 really could work for visual.
The max load for CG-5 is 12 kg, C11 is 13 kg. On the other hand the C11 is a relative short scope.
My CG-5 has no issues with my 8" f/6 OOUK Newt. (1200mm long)and it weights 7 kg.
So the C11 must be just on the edge what is possible for the CG-5?

The payload rating is a maximum and a bit stretch in my opinion. I have the CG-5-ASGT carrying a C10N (with accessories add up to about 30 lbs). For visual it is okay, but the DEC starts making cranking noise and skip once I put a heavier eyepiece or DSLR on it.
