If so do you ever get up to Big Bear-Arrowhead?

My sister has an 11" Nexstar in her observatory at Arrowhead (Hook Creek).

It must have got banged pretty good bringing it up there because the collimation is way out and the scope is not usable.

I don't know how to explain it to her so she can do it herself. She's not expecting any freebies or anything.

She's sort of a newbie and this has really dampened her enthusiasm. If you can help out please let me know.

I could, but I don't think I can make it up to big bear until later on next week or the week after... plus I guess it would have to be a "collimate on site" or could I take it and return it?

Thanks Dave! Actually there may be an easier way. My neice lives in Long Beach and Patti goes down there once or twice a month. If I could hook you guys up maybe she could bring the scope with her next time she goes.

Scott I'm in Long Beach and might be able to help. I would have to use a star to collimate, I don't have a new fangled artificial thingy, but the only mount I have is a cg5. Could she bring a mount?

Thanks. I believe she has the tripod. It's currently on a pier.

I've used the Sun's reflection in a marble to collimate before. Never tried the artificial stars.

I've been following this. Scott, do you think you have help now? The forecast is good for several days to come, so real stars should be available for collimation. Not much to do on an SCT.

Hi Curt. Thanks for keeping an eye out. I think we might have it handled. The two Dave's above sent me their info (Thanks Dave and Dave) to have Patti get in touch with them.

Hopefully we can get it up and running. She has a pretty nice set up and it'll be nice to see it get some use.
