You're going to love that one, Maxx! I have an SV102ED-25SV and couldn't be happier! Wonderful telescope with excellent optics. Yours is a triplet, so even better. A superb choice, IMO!

Enjoy it. I just purchased the same scope from Vic the other day. Mine is due to be delivered on Tuesday. This will be my 2nd Stellarvue scope. I also have the SV110ED which I purchased last fall. Vic has some quality refractors and you won't be let down.

Congrats on your decision. I broke down and ordered its slightly larger cousin, the SVR90T-25SV. I have never owned a StellarVue, but like you I was swayed by the great reputation and quality reports.

Congrats on the new scope, Maxx--I think you're really going to like it. I owned one for a couple of years a few years ago and really enjoyed using it.

This is exactly why I started down the road to disaster, er, I mean refractor. I got an ST80, loved the wide views, but not the poor contrast or abundant false color.

Like Keith, I jumped on the appreciation sale. I was fortunate enough to get a little viewing last night, just hours after opening the box. I was particularly pleased with M42 using the 8.8ES82.

It clouded up quickly, but I must have caught the cloud monster unawares, and slapped together the scope and snuck in some EP time before the curse woke him up.

Here's hoping he dozes off for you as well!

Clear skies,
David

Maxx,

Mine arrived yesterday and it's hard to put into words how pleased I am with this scope. I had been going back and forth between the 80 and the 90Raptor which is on sale. I finally called Vic one morning asked if he still had the 80 in stock and could ship the same day. Answer was yes and it was a done deal.

Of course clouds moved in last night and are expected to be around for some time with the possibility of a winter storm this week-end. I did manage about 10 minutes of viewing Jupiter last night under so so viewing conditions before the clouds rolled in. Now, this was the first time I have ever looked thru a triplet and I was more than pleased with the view with a Delos 6mm at 80X. The view was very good along with the clarity and contrast. I didn't really allow the scope to cool properly so I know even better viewing will come.

You will be a 'happy camper'.
