Hi all
Obtained an image of SNHunt168 in MCG +5-22-20, close to NGC 2783, yesterday.
BUT
I looked at some Palomar, DSSII, SDSSII images, and could not find any hard evidence for a super nova at this location. Very strange, since it is now confirmed as a likely type 1c with spectroscopy. Atel 4772
I'm baffled by this one.
Any thoughts?
My image 200% compared to SDSS II

Hi Lars
The discovery image is here
http://nesssi.cacr.caltech.edu/catalina/Current/20130115_472.html
By eye there is nothing obvious to see but the difference image shows a brightening of the galaxy core. Presumably the spectrum was also obtained by difference.
Cheers
Robin
