moon filter doesn't fit the Antares .965 threads-?
      #5657147 - 02/01/13 09:11 PM

I picked up some .965 Antares Plossls- a 25, 12.5, and 7.5. However, my only moon filter, a green glass bit from my Shrine-Manon doesn't match the threading.

Wisdom of the ages, how ought I proceed? Also, now realizing that there are proprietary threadings, what type of filters should I be accumulating for my, thus far, mostly RKE 1 1/4" eps?

I'm trying to knock out Astronomical Leagues Lunar I & II programs at the same time, while going blind. Actually I popped the lens out of an old pair of sunglasses and was viewing with the glasses on one night (but that can't last).

I think Antares makes 0.965 moon filters to fit their modern 0.965 eps. Meade does too I believe. They used to. Try telescope Warehouse. They have tons of surplus Meade stuff. You can probable find one for five bucks.

Thanks- I've heard meade has their own threading that's a bit off from most all else... I'll look for the Antares though.

I've run into this issue before with .965 moon filters. I think I had a Meade 0.965 moon filter that only fit some Meade 0.965 eyepieces, all made in Taiwan about 12-14 years ago. I've also had this issue some a 1960's or 70's era moon filter. The best solution is to seek out and Antares moon fulter, of course.
