M81 and M82 imaged with a modified Canon 350D and an SV856 at f/7 from Table Mountain, WA. No filters were used. Exposure was 5 mins x 24 for a total of two hours at ISO 800. This is the full scale center crop. Processed with Pixinsight.

Thanks for looking.

Nice image Ajay, very well processed and nice and clear. I personally like the natural looks not the oversaturated, which is what you have here, very nice for 2 hours of data.
Clear Skies (comma in the right spot I think but is still reads wrong)

Thank you Carl. Appreciate the compliment.
On saturation: Agree that it is enhanced but I beg to differ that it is overly so. I tried to bring out the H-alpha regions a bit. If you look at M81 it is not uncommon to see those colors. I was surprised that M82 came out the way it did, but I like it. To each his own.

No problems Carl. Its all good. In the field of pretty picture making some subjectivity is bound to exist. So I did not take it poorly. Thanks for the clarification.

Skies were nice and dark. Here's some info about the site: http://www.tmspa.com/infopages/site_info.html Last summer a wildfire swept through here as large parts of central WA burned.
Back on the subject, its the dark skies combined with Pixinsight magic (HDR multiscale) which you know all about:)

Thank you Keith and Mike.
Many people (here and on Flickr) have commented on the amount of detail I was able to get with 2 hrs with a canon 350D at 800 ISO.
To tell the truth my first effort was not so great.
This image was acquired in my second season in 2010. However I did collect flats, flat darks to correct the flats and darks. I don't use bias frames because I do traditional dark subtraction and dark frames already contain the bias signal. Proper calibration helped stretch the data more. I also had nice dark skies and the seeing was better than average for most part.
