Hi all! Here is the lastest sketch of Jupiter, observed 2 days ago with a 3.5" refractor at 228x. On this part of Jupiter(CM~57) there were 2 large festoons, easly visble. NEB in moments of good seeing presents itself with some structure.

Hi Catalin,
Nice to see another of your Jupiter sketches. You certainly were able to get a good view of those festoons. I really miss observing Jupiter--thanks for posting!

You truly have this refine smoothness that's got great appeal. Save the bother of outlining the planet which is oddly oblate anyway and download a Blank off of beltofvenus.com or google Jeremy Perez, Jupiter blanks. Saves a bit of bother, allows you to concentrate more on the shading and provides a nice black backdrop.
You have a terrific finish to your work I always enjoy.

Thanks Pete! I try to render as much as realistic of what I see at the eyepice. I "avoid" to use a template because I have a logbook with all the sketches I made of Jupiter from ~10 years ago...and I just want to finish it, but I'll take your advice and I'll make some sketches with black background template.

hi Catalin, nice sketch ! You saw really several dark projetions at the NEBs. I found them at my last sessions too. There goes something to change in that region.

Beautiful sketch, Catalin! And I agree with the others that the softness of the image and especially those festoons are wonderful. You've got a keen eye!
