Matt, Neat little camera.
Interesting packaging for a low volume/DIY setup.
Comp/SVBS and S-Video, plus an 8pin DIN for remote/control.
Cute too.
Any specs on the electronics?
Is the CCD cover clear or does it have IR cut characteristics?

You are right, I've been busy testing the camera and doing some final tweaks .
It shows real promise so far, much more sensitive and less noise than the Lntech .
The only thing that I still need to do is adjust some of the CCD timing and voltage parameters for lowest noise. While it's very low as it is now, I know it hasn't been fully optimised and can do even better.
The adjustment itself is easy , just some firmware constants to change .
I was looking for some dark frames from other cameras for comparison , such as Lodestar , Mallincam , Samsung etc. Without some reference for comparison, I don't know when to stop looking for more tweaks .
Despite the large number of actual images I found on the web, I couldn't find dark frames from any of the good video cams the way I need them, 17 to 20 sec exposure at maximum gain .For cameras with Peltier cooling, both with cooling on and off would help.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
I'll post some images and results withing the next few days.

The regulars can poke fun at Mattflastro all they want. The irony of it is that his device represents the direction video astronomy is going. A simple little electronic eyepiece. Eventually that's what the astro video cameras will look like.
The real ones will likely just have some sort of IP connector or be totally wireless. Can't imagine the need for composite or S-Video. The old analog monitors will have all been chewed up by the recyclers by then.

Gee, thanks David. As a self-appointed moderator your presence on some of Matt's posts was conspicuously absent. I ascribe to a live and let live philosophy which is difficult to maintain on this forum. It is tiresome when almost any time a Mallincam is mentioned the usual suspects are quick to jump all over it. Guess the best approach is to look for evidence to back up their claims. Kinda tough tho since several of the pundits don't even have cameras and/or don't post any images. Time to flee to the Yahoo group along with the other refugees from this forum.

I definitely would like to see some samples from this project Matt has going. I don't always agree with his statements but I definitely have an open mind to any new ideas.
I really like the idea behind this and since I couldn't do what he is doing on my own I am all ears for whatever he has to say on this topic.
