QHY5 for Daytime observation
      #5662855 - 02/05/13 02:34 AM

Hi Guys,
been while since i have posted, and hope am in the right section of the forum
My question here .. Is it possible to use QHY5 for daytime observation ? IN other words imaging in bright day light ?
I have tried tuning various parameters with PHD but am failing to get any image .... can any one help with what exact parameters should be tuned...
Taking in mind that i tried QGVideo and it is working and managed in getting video...

Appreciate your help.
Thank you.

for day time you'd have to crank the gain way down from 95 for night use to like... 5

Don't know why not it could be use for daytime imaging - but use QGVideo instead of PHD.

Hello Ahmed,

lower the gain of the camera and use exposure times
around 0.001 sec.
This way i have managed to get images during daylight.

Well will try to crank the gain all the way ...

@Tapio QGVideo doesn't do tracking right ?

The only way I am able to get an image with my QHY5 camera in the daytime ... using an 80mm refractor ...is by stopping down the objective to almost a pinhole. Exposing at even the fastest speed available will be too slow and the camera will be saturated in daylight conditions.

Turning down the gain won't help if the CCD wells are full. The image will just look uniform gray instead of white.

Ahmed: What is your project = why do you need tracking(=guiding?) in daytime ?
