Is there a website/app that gives the lunar cycle.

Hello Everyone

Is there a website/app that gives the lunar cycle, down to the hour?

I would like to do the Astronomical League's Lunar Observing program, but I believe that they want observations on a 7 hour moon.

Please help me.
Chris

It's not a website, but Virtual Moon Atlas gives it to 0.01 day (0.24 hour).

I relied heavily on the VMA when I worked through the AL Lunar I. Highly recommended.

Oh gosh yeah.

Moon HD comes to mind, though Moon Calendar is good too . I forget if the latter was iPhone or Droid. Apples AppStore has many many many a moon app.

I suspect they meant 7° elongation of the Moon from the Sun, rather than seven hours since conjunction which is rather unreasonable. The Moon separates from the Sun at roughly 0.5° per hour. The age of the Moon (current lunation) is traditionally measured from the time of its geocentric conjunction with the Sun in ecliptical longitude. The next such conjunction for a Dark (new) Moon will occur on 2013 FEB 10 at 07:20 UT. With that knowledge you will easily be able to determine the Moon’s “age”. I’ve written a detailed article and prepared graphics for spotting the February New Moon: www.CurtRenz.com/moon
